Poetry Using Poetic Devices~

A Day At the Beach

A day at the beach,
can be a thunderstorm.

Imagine a small wave in the ocean,
the wind pushing it as it grows and grows.
finally it approaches the sand;
crashing, thundering, against the shore.

Imagine the water splashing off of
this wave.
the salty spray hits your face,
each water droplet;
like a drop of rain.

Imagine the sun beams,
reflecting on the water,
lines of electric light
here and there;
Looks like lightening.

Imagine a day at the beach,
and imagine a thunderstorm,
imagine how similar,
the two of them are.

And like I said before,
A day at the beach,
can be a thunderstorm.

  1. Great imagery. When you wrote "the salty spray hits your face, each water droplet;" it made me feel like i was there, at the beach.
    great job!

  3. I love how you compared nature to nature, instead of an animal or people to nature. It makes it really unique from the other poems like this that I have read =)
